Throughout 2023 a group of British Sign Language (BSL) users met at Burnley Manchester Road station community room for a monthly meeting and we are back for 2024! As well as the all important chance to meet and catch-up the group have become more confident in buying train tickets (online and at ticket machines) and planning and taking rail journeys. We were thankful they an active role in the consultation around Booking Office closures last year and for their regular feedback to Northern on initiatives designed to support d/Deaf passengers. This year we hope to take some more group rail trips and continue to share the joy of rail travel within the Deaf communities of Lancashire.

This week a regular member, Darren, brought us a surprise to take a look at…a piece of rail heritage he had found and bought at a local car-boot sale. Great find Darren!
