Inclusive railway engagement

Welcome to TrainEd, a railway engagement programme part of Community Rail Lancashire. Our mission is to connect the community to the railway and educate them about safety, careers and sustainability whilst giving them confidence to travel. We offer fully-costed sessions to schools and community groups across parts of Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Sessions

With a team of five qualified teachers we tailor make workshops, accompany groups on train trips and partake in longer lasting local community projects. If you work with people along the railway line and want them to learn how to travel safely and confidently or perhaps to encourage them to look towards careers in the industry please do get in touch with us.

The Feel Good Futures Project is an educational initiative funded by Avanti West Coast and delivered by Community Rail Lancashire. It aims to inspire young people aged 14–18 by offering unique field trips to locations along the West Coast Main Line, with a focus on STEM education and career opportunities in the rail industry. Through interactive sessions, industry insights, and real-world experiences, the project supports students in exploring future pathways and developing a better understanding of the diverse roles within the railway sector.

In 2025 Bradford is UK City of Culture, and we are also commemorating 200 years since the start of the modern railway. To celebrate these two huge milestones, young people aged 16 and under across the Bradford district are being invited to design a new moquette to install on an LNER carriage.
