Today some of the team have been to Accrington & Rossendale College, to find out about the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance course on offer there. As part of the course learners are taught the the fundamentals of rail track maintenance needed to obtain a successful career on the railway. The course introduces them to the typical operations and allows them to develop an extensive skill set to carry out various roles within the rail industry.

The TrainEd team saw a demonstration on how to check and maintain a fishplate joint, which connects two parts of track together along all our railways.

It was also great to hear how the learners had gone on to find employment in the rail industry. This will support the team when educating young people in railway careers in the future.
