NW School Sustainability Conference

Conference 4
Conference 4

On 25 June, Dave attended the North West School Sustainability Conference at Blackburn Rovers Football Club – always one of the highlights of the year.

More than 500 primary and secondary school students from across the North West came together to explore practical ways they can make more sustainable choices in their everyday lives. The event provided an inspiring opportunity for young people to learn, share ideas, and discover how small actions can make a big difference.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with organisations and businesses that are committed to creating a more sustainable future. Dave was particularly pleased to promote Accrington Eco Station, highlighting how rail travel remains one of the most sustainable forms of transport, helping to reduce carbon emissions while connecting communities.

The conference took place during a record-breaking heatwave, which resulted in some school closures and travel disruption. It served as a timely reminder of the growing impacts of climate change and the importance of taking action to build a more sustainable future.

A huge congratulations to Glynis Goldsbrough and Wendy Litherland for delivering another fantastic event and inspiring so many young people to become champions for sustainability.
