Over the past year, Karen has collaborated with the Scouts and the broader rail industry to bring the Platforms for Change project to life. This initiative connects Scout groups with their local train stations, providing young people with valuable skills and experiences. Many dedicated members, such as Sheila, have hosted these groups at stations managed by both Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and Network Rail.

The project was celebrated at the Corporate Engagement Awards, where it won gold and two silver awards. These accolades recognized the strong relationship between the Scouts and Network Rail, as well as the project’s significant community impact​. The following week the project won another award at the Charity Times Awards.
