A collection of community and youth groups will be working with sound artist James Mabbett to explore the sounds of the railway in East Lancashire.
A range of groups will be working with James Mabbett to explore the railway network through a series of interactive workshops in Blackburn, Preston, Accrington, Clitheroe and Burnley. The groups will head out to their local railway station with James who will teach us how to record the sounds of the railway and what to listen out for. The sounds that are collected will be developed (by James) into a soundscape which will be used as part of Community Rail Lancashire’s education programme.
Sounds can help us to imagine ourselves in different spaces and we hope that this project will help those who feel anxious about rail travel to become more familiar with the sounds of the railway before they head to their local railway station.
Groups who took part: Arts 2 Heal, NightSafe, Saliheen Scouts, Stations of Welcome, Crosshills School
