Travelling on UK Railways can be extremely challenging for the 14 million+ people with a wide range of physical and non-visible disabilities and mental health conditions. During 2022 we partnered with Chrome Angel, Northern and Angel Trains to develop a ‘Serious Game’ that aims to support people experience rail through virtual reality as preparation for the real world. This project was recognised with it winning the Gold Innovation award at a national cross industry Customer Experience Awards 22 and has now been featured in Knowledge Transfer Network’s ‘Accessibility Report’ .

With more than 1 in 5 consumers having a disability, 75% of which have decided against using a UK business because of poor accessibility, transport businesses lose £42 million per month by ignoring the needs of disabled people (Scope). TrainEd agrees with KTN that “Greater accessibility and inclusion in transport has the power to be transformative for marginalised groups and communities across the UK” and we see this in action every day.

Thanks for the invite to share our project at the launch of the report and we encourage you to have a read for yourselves.
