TrainEd and Northern spent the day speaking to students at Blackburn College about the huge variety of careers within the rail industry. Conductors Charmaine, Craig and Joe spoke to the students about their roles and also about how they came to be part of the railway family. Many students (and some teachers!) were amazed at the number of different roles within the rail industry and were keen to find out more. The organisers of the event were very keen to remain in contact with Northern and TrainEd for future events.

Some students commented that they hadn’t realised how many different types of jobs there were in the rail industry and that it wasn’t something they had thought to consider but may now do so.

The rail industry is vast and there are many opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities. Everything from train presentation to driving, marketing and IT as well as engineering in it’s many forms is available as a career. For further information follow the link.
