This half term, Beth and Sophia worked with two groups from Buddy Up in Southport. Buddy Up is a befriending and mentoring project for 13-18 year old’s with SEND.
Over the week, Sophia led two rail confidence workshops focusing on rail safety, planning journeys and careers in rail. The sessions were fun, interactive and full of interesting questions asked by the participants!

Then the groups went to Deansgate using Northern Rail. There they explored the Science and Industry Museum. Everyone had a great time!

Here are some of the quotes that the young people shared about their experience:
“I now feel like I know how to get on the train safely and how to deal with strangers if I am intimidated”
“It helped to know I can ask staff for information“
“I learnt how to read the timetable and how to change trains“
Thanks so much Buddy Up for working with us on this very special half term project.
