Try The Train is a fully funded initiative that Community Rail Lancashire run on behalf of Northern Trains. The programme is designed to build confidence and independence in rail travel.
Try The Train includes three tailored workshops and two supported rail journeys for groups of 8 to 12 people, aged 14 and over. Each workshop builds key skills around rail safety, journey planning, and using the train network, with each rail trip offering a chance to put that learning into practice.
Participants will be gradually supported to become more independent, with the Try The Train facilitator stepping back over time as confidence grows. By the second journey, participants are encouraged to plan and carry out the trip themselves, with the facilitator on hand for reassurance if needed.
If you know of any groups across the Northern Trains network that maybe interested in taking part please complete the booking request form that can be found here Booking Request – Try the Train
